The PHIL award honoring outstanding respiratory therapists is the only nationwide program that honors respiratory therapists and is given in memory of Philip C. Lamka, who passed away from complications of an interstitial lung disease. The FACES (Family and Caregiver Education & Support) was founded in 2006 by Phil’s wife Sharman to bring meaning to her profound sadness. The organization’s mission is to acknowledge and promote professional excellence in the education and care of patients with pulmonary illnesses.
PHIL Awards are presented annually. Recipients are recognized at a public ceremony in their unit and receive a framed recognition certificate, appreciation sculpture, and honoree lapel pin.
Patients, visitors, and colleagues may nominate a deserving respiratory therapist by completing the form below.
