The 2024 Virtua Health Gala was an inspiring evening celebrating the power of gratitude, our philanthropic partners, and our shared commitment to be here for good.
An Evening for Good
On Saturday, November 2, 2024, we gathered together with 750 guests at our annual black-tie celebration. Held at the Borgata in Atlantic City, the 2024 Virtua Health Gala was an uplifting evening in celebration of our sponsors and all of our generous donors who propel our mission forward.
“We are so grateful to our generous philanthropic investors for joining Virtua Health in our mission to improve the lives of others,” said Sarah Fawcett-Lee, FAHP, CFRE, senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer for Virtua Health. “Everyone who played a role during this year’s gala – whether as a sponsor, guest, or honoree, reflects the kindness and generosity that make South Jersey so special.”
Evening Highlights
Thanks to the support of many generous donors, including this year’s presenting sponsor Bob & Donna Platzer and Family of Town Square Real Estate, proceeds from the event will support and enhance Virtua’s innovative and highly impactful Eat Well food access program. We are grateful to all of our philanthropic partners whose kindness is helping us feed our neighbors across South Jersey.
In 2024, we were pleased to honor two extraordinary individuals for their leadership and dedication to making the world a better place:
- Chef Jose Garces, Iron Chef, James Beard Award-winner, Restaurateur & Author, was presented with a Distinguished Service Award for his leadership and advocacy for building healthier communities through food access and education.
- James E. George, MD, JD, Artist, Philanthropist, and Founding Member of TeamHealth, was named Virtua’s 2024 Humanitarian of the Year for his compassion, generosity, and remarkable contributions to improving the health and well-being of our community through his passion for the healing arts.

About the Beneficiary
Proceeds from the 2024 Virtua Health Gala benefited our Eat Well Food Access Programs, which bring fresh, healthy food to under-resourced communities in southern New Jersey.
With the help of our philanthropic partners, Virtua’s food access program has made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of families in our community. Since 2017, our Eat Well Mobile Farmers Market, Eat Well Food Pharmacies, and our new Eat Well Mobile Grocery Store have become trusted resources that our community and patients have come to rely on. Together, we are working to ensure that our neighbors, regardless of what zip code they call home, have access to the fresh, healthy, and affordable foods they deserve.
