Nandini Natrajan and Michael MacKenzie join Virtua Health Foundation Board of Trustees
Virtua Health announces two leadership appointments for the Virtua Health Foundation Board of Trustees, effective January 2026. Virtua Health’s philanthropy program raises charitable support from individuals, community organizations, corporations, foundations, and government grants. Philanthropic investments support a wide variety of Virtua’s programs, including community health and clinical services. They also provide nursing scholarships and educational resources for clinicians and improve access to care for the South Jersey community. Virtua Health Foundation trustees play a vital role in the success of this work, serving as ambassadors for the health system’s philanthropic initiatives. In 2025, generous donors invested nearly $13 million in Virtua’s mission.
The trustees joining the Board have distinguished careers and strong ties to the community and to Virtua Health.
Nandini Natrajan, Ph.D., has more than 25 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance, working for major food manufacturers. Dr. Natrajan holds a Ph.D. in food science from North Carolina State University. She has served on the board of directors for Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice for 10 years, and most recently held the role of chair of the board. A South Jersey resident for more than two decades, Dr. Natrajan has also volunteered to serve on Virtua Health’s quality and safety committee.
“Virtua is more than a healthcare system. It is an ecosystem that delivers all levels of care in our community, including to underserved populations where access can be challenging and where it is needed most,” said Dr. Natrajan. “My family and I were introduced to Virtua through an experience that left an indelible mark on our lives, and my goal since then has been to find ways to not just give back, but to serve as an advocate for palliative care, hospice, and the values of having a resource like Virtua in our region.”
Michael A. MacKenzie, CFP, is senior vice president at PNC Private Bank. Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in business administration from Saint Joseph’s University. He has served on the boards of several local organizations, including Christ the King Regional School and the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation. He also serves as chair of the board of the Catholic Partnership Schools of Camden as well as of the Knights Education Foundation. A lifelong New Jersey resident, MacKenzie resides in Woolwich Township with his wife, Brianne, and their three children.
“My service as a trustee is rooted in gratitude, purpose, and a strong sense of community responsibility. I feel a deep connection to Virtua for many reasons, not the least of which is its commitment to the Catholic legacy of Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden,” said MacKenzie. “In addition to faith, I believe that access to quality education and healthcare are the two most powerful tools to help end generational poverty. When hospitals serve not only as centers for healing and faith but also as anchors of community wellness, they become critical agents of change and economic stability. As a trustee of the Virtua Health Foundation, I have an opportunity to help ensure that high-quality, compassionate healthcare remains accessible to all—especially the most vulnerable members of our community.”
